Burnt Barn Distilling Co. starts with the finest ingredients, sourced locally for all of their distilled spirits. The entire process, “from grain to glass” happens in their state-of-the-art facility in the foothills of Paradise, California.
We are proud to say that our equipment was hand-made by the prestigious Vendome Copper & Brass Works, family-owned, world renowned company with over a century of craftsmanship and trusted by the most recognized names in the industry.
From selecting to milling the grain, through cooking, fermentation, distillation, and bottling, Head Distiller, Massimiliano “Massi” Stecca directs the entire process, with the thoughtful observation and participation of Distillery Owner, Melissa Schuster, ensuring that every bottle produced by Burnt Barn Distilling Co. will be of the highest possible quality.
Rebuilding Paradise
Our story is forever tied to the devastating Camp Fire that destroyed nearly all of our precious town of Paradise, California in November 2018.
Owner, Melissa Schuster, was one of five Town Council members who all lost their homes and businesses in the tragedy. In the immediate aftermath, Melissa was determined that her community would not become ‘Paradise Lost’, but would rebound with the passion of it’s residents. Having been in the hospitality industry, she understood the necessity of sharing their story of resilience and determination.
The family, including Melissa and her husband Cliff Jacobson, their son, Taylor Schuster, who developed a passion for and studied distillation during his 18 years in the US Air Force, and his wife, Danae, also a USAF Veteran, embarked upon a challenging, 6-1/2 year journey to build a new distillery.
Their intent was to create quality spirits of unmatched excellence from Paradise, in a welcoming space that would encourage visitors from near and far to visit Paradise.
Burnt Barn Distilling Co. is dedicated to promoting the Paradise Ridge, while providing a product that our residents can take pride in. To that end, support of local businesses and non-profits is an innate part of Burnt Barn’s legacy and business model.

The wildly popular, 2nd Annual “Spirit of Spring” Pop-up event is back with even more local vendors! Pop in and enjoy local wares, music by Jimmy Becker and, of course, delicious Embers to Eden spirits! We will be hosting group Tasting Experiences throughout the day.
In honor of Theatre on the Ridge’s 50th anniversary, Burnt Barn Distilling Co. is proud to offer a special reserve bottle of bourbon—crafted to celebrate the resilience of Paradise and the enduring power of the arts. Don’t miss this special revival of Return to Paradise, and raise a glass to 50 years of storytelling, community, and strength.
